Elena Tsatsura of the Institute of Social Analysis and Forecasting in Moscow, Russia, took to YouTube last month to talk about her experiences at Homelessness in a Global Landscape, defining and measuring homelessness in a global context, and work being done in Chicago to address the city's population of people experiencing homelessness.

This first video deals with the main topic of the Homelessness in a Global Landscapeconference, held June 1-2 in Chicago: determining a global framework for defining homelessness, and approaches to count homeless populations. Representatives of more than 30 countries all round the world took part in the conference (from Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, Latin America, Asia, and Africa).

This second video speaks about current work with people experiencing homelessness and at-risk groups in Chicago. Heartland Alliance provides permanent housing for chronically homeless people. This is one of the examples of using Housing First approach. Grace’s Café teaches and gives work to formerly incarcerated individuals. La Casa Norte provides young men (16-18 ages old) with housing and all-round support. In Inspiration Kitchens, those who have troubles with employment because of low education, incarceration, homelessness and poverty can gain education, work skills and support in permanent employment.
